Terms of Reference

Objectives

The Sustainable Tourism Charter Network is a Working Group of EUROPARC Atlantic Isles.  The Network has been brought together:

  • to develop guidelines for the implementation of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas;
  • to encourage protected areas to join the Charter Network;
  • to operate as a supportive forum for the exchange of ideas, best practice models and information;
  • to give organisations at all stages of Charter status a chance to learn from each other;
  • to promulgate ideas, best practice and information as widely as possible, within and between member organisations;
  • to work closely with the wider Charter Network across Europe in order to build links with, and learn from, other EUROPARC Sections that are implementing the Charter.

Process

  • The Network will operate mainly through an e-mail list held and maintained by the EAI Development Officer.
  • A dedicated discussion forum on the EAI website will also be made available to the Network.
  • The Network shall meet as and when necessary; meetings organised by mutual consent.

Membership

Membership shall be open to staff and members of all EAI membership organisations, and others by invitation.
