26 Feb, 2026 12-1pm.
Margaux Pierrel, Conservation Ranger at National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) in Ireland, will talk about shifting baseline syndrome (SBS), or how each generation adjusts their baseline about the ‘normal’ state of nature based on their own first experiences or childhood memories. The presentation will highlight the causes of SBS, its consequences especially on nature conservation, and will explore ways to reverse the shift.
