Volunteering

EAI is a partner in the EU Grundtvig funded project ‘Volunteer Management in European Parks’, together with nine other partners from eight countries with the common aim of enhancing volunteer management in European protected areas.

The ‘Volunteer Management in European Parks’ project has already enabled EAI members to gain valuable experience in this field through participation in training seminars. In addition, there are opportunities for tutoring in volunteer management through an exchange programme. Interested parks can take advantage of or offer tutoring opportunities.

As part of the project EAI hosted a ‘train the trainers’ workshop from 21-23 May 2012 at the Gilwell Park conference centre near Epping Forest, London. A dozen experienced volunteer coordinators from eight European countries took the opportunity to undertake a training programme on setting up their own schemes for managing volunteers in protected areas. Further details of the event can be found on this link.

If you are from an EAI member organisation and would like to take part in a future event please contact the Development Officer for more details. The next training seminar is scheduled for the third week of March in Spain.
