Global Youth Biodiversity Network UK and COP17: Youth Priorities for Nature and International Policy workshop

15 September, 6-7pm. Global Youth Biodiversity Network UK is a youth-led group, working to lift youth voices in biodiversity policy and improve our future for all. This informal, interactive and informative workshop will be led by Abi Gardner and will provide an overview of international biodiversity policy including COP17 and how it influences and manifests in national policy, and how young people can influence it.

The rest of the session will be an opportunity to input your priorities into the UK Youths’ Priorities for Nature, providing an immediate practical example and opportunity for direct influence ready for COP17 in October 2026.

Leading the workshop are:

Katherine Varley: Katherine holds a BSc in Wildlife Conservation during which she volunteered abroad researching marine wildlife and engaging the public in conservation locally.

Lisa Davidson: Holding a BSc in Animal Conservation Science and MSc in Ecotourism, Lisa has spent the last five years at NatureScot, developing an expertise in Scotland’s national protected areas suite.

Noah Thorley: Noah is a Student Voice Co-ordinator at Chester Students’ Union, as well as Vice Chair for the Chester Zoo Youth Board, and is particularly interested in student democracy, representation, and creating systems that support both engagement and leadership growth.
